Precaria - Theosulphuros / Nigraluminiscencia Production: Guitar Tracking

A ton of effort was put into the recording of "Theosulphuros" / Side B of "Nigraluminiscencia".

I believe a very important part of creating music is to find sound textures that when combined, make everything more appealing.

Sounding bad with the excuse of being "black metal" is plain mediocrity. One can only strive for the best in every aspect because this is deep music that deserves the best and my interest is to create timeless works of darkness, not to fit into an outdated stereotype.

The sound of Precaria improved drastically throughout the last decade, mainly due to gaining experience in the audio engineering department as well as developing the notion of composition further, however, there's one thing that will remain constant: the sound will always be built upon real instruments and equipment, relying on the digital realm as a last resource to fix small details, and for editing. Ultimately creating a soundscape full of analog characteristics from scratch.

It takes longer, and it's expensive. This is one of the reasons why the discography expands in such a slow pace. For this "quality over quantity" approach, it's guaranteed that every Precaria release is an important release.

Now, the following pictures show SOME of the gear used to create the sound of the guitars. They went through another analog stage before and after this. First I double-tracked them here at Necrosound Studio using a DI box with different pedals for each of the guitar lines, then I sent them over to Null Set Studios in Massachussetts, where the amps, cabs & mics you see on the photos were used and lastly I fine-tuned and blended the mic signals here.

Bestia on the drums: official member of Precaria

Precaria welcomes Bestia as an official member. Being a talented studio drummer, he will record for Precaria's upcoming Theosulphuros and all the next releases. Also given that he's in Italy and that I'm moving to Tennessee soon, this makes Precaria an international band with members from/in 3 countries. You can check more videos of Bestia in his channel playing along songs of DSO, Kriegsmaschine, Dissection and other bands we like.
